Georgia's Sober November

I’ve been in a couple of situations where I would normally have a pint or two. I had dinner with friends and opted for a mocktail which felt indulgent (Yuzu Spritz), we swung by a bar and I had a Guinness 0% which was okay...but I prefer the real thing! I expected to get some comments about not drinking but no one batted an eye. At my dad’s birthday meal I didn’t drink - this was pretty easy as neither of my parents drink, and they haven’t for over a decade. Feeling clear-headed and like I have more time on my hands, but that could be due to reducing my screentime. I also have a few extra quid in my pocket!

After a full month of no alcohol I’m not feeling profoundly different, especially since Scottish winter is approaching and the symptoms of the darker and colder days feel much like a hangover to me.

However, I do think I’ll carry on with the non-drinking at least until New Year’s Eve to see how I feel. I think I’ve probably saved a bit of money, and I’ve been in plenty of enjoyable social situations without having a drink and without any funny looks or comments as a result (a sign of the times, it seems).
